UWC Library Services cordially invites first-year students in the CHS faculty to attend an introductory online workshop: Library Orientation & Basic Search Strategy Training.

Workshop Description:

The aim of this orientation workshop is to introduce students to the Library services and facilities; how to use the Library resources which will be helpful during their course of study at UWC i.e. Finding books and journal articles on uKwazi, Off-campus access to the library resources, etc.

Workshop Outcomes:

By the end of this workshop, the student should be able to:

• Navigate the library’s webpage
• Identify an information need and develop a research question
• Identify different types of sources
• Construct a search string using Boolean operators
• Use the CRAAP test to evaluate the information
• Avoid different types of plagiarism
• Use a one-author in-text citation
